Educational Visits

Educational Visits

"Evidence shows that learning outside of the classroom brings benefits to pupils such as deeper subject learning, increased self-confidence and raised achievement. It can also help young people to understand and manage risk."

- DCFS statement, January 2008

Residential Activities

Residential visits are considered extremely beneficial for children and the school is appreciative of the willingness of the staff to organise such activities. They are always subject to review.

During their time at Brook House, children are usually given the opportunity to take part in two residential experiences, one in Year 5 and one in Year 6.

Year 5 Residential

The Year 5 pupils enjoyed an overnight stay in York. This was our first visit to York as a residential and was packed with interesting and fun filled activities, such as finding treasures in a Dig and seeing ancient York being brought to life in Jorvic.

All activities undertaken brought the learning in the classroom well and truly to life, and enriched their education. The children were a credit to the school with their behaviour on this trip.

Our next residential trip for Year 5 in Summer 2019 will be a trip to London, where they will visit a Science Museum and watch the famous play 'Lion King'.

PGL Camping Residential at Caythorpe Court

In Y6 all the children have the opportunity to go to the PGL centre Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire for an action packed week of adventurous outdoor activities. The children sleep outside in tents and have a fantastic time. Activities the children take part in include: kayaking, climbing, quad biking, problem solving, and raft building to name but a few!
