Progress

A new method has also been introduced in the past two years to calculate average pupil progress from the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) to the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6).

Each school is given an average progress score.

For all mainstream pupils nationally, the average progress score will be zero.

A progress score of 0 means that children in the school, on average, do about as well at key stage 2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.

A positive progress score means that children in the school, on average, do better at key stage 2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.

A negative progress score means that children in the school, on average, do worse at key stage 2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.

For this year progress rates are only given for writing, reading and maths.

The table below shows the average progress scores from the end of key Stage 1 (Year 2) to the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) for Brook House Junior School compared with national and Sheffield averages:

Average Progress Score
Subject Brook House National Sheffield
Writing -0.8 0.0
